Perry Howard

Perry Howard served as its Program Coordinator and Professor of Landscape Architecture at North Carolina A&T for 25 years before retiring in 2014. North Carolina A&T State University has the only undergraduate landscape architecture program at a Historically Black College or University. In 2008 Howard became the first African American to serve as President of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). He has also served in many capacities within the National ASLA administration as well as Florida ASLA. Before his teaching career started in 1989, Mr. Howard was a Vice-President in the Landscape Architecture and Planning firm of EDSA in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he designed large parks and new communities. Howard received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University and a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard University - The Graduate School of Design. He was elevated Fellow in the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1995.
