Lauren McDaniel is a St. Louis native and recently joined DTLS as a Landscape Architectural Designer in 2021. She received her Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis in 2020 and her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from Saint Louis University in 2016, with a focus on Geosciences and Biology. Lauren’s design process is guided by a passion for soils and native plants. She was inspired to pursue a degree in Landscape Architecture as a way to bridge the gap between the environment and the citizens through design, community outreach, and implementation of adaptive, sustainable, and compelling design. One of her interests is the use of play as a means of building sustainable and resilient communities and citizens through passive and active interaction. She finds joy in designing projects that covertly expand people's knowledge by simply inhabiting a space. In her practice, Lauren has been able to utilize her knowledge of native plants and the environment to design sustainably sound projects that span residential, healthcare, higher education, and community-driven projects.
