Naomi Bailey is a rising African American landscape architect student. She grew up on the westside of Detroit, Michigan and later moved to the eastside with her mother and three siblings. She attended East English Village Preparatory High School and later graduated as the class valedictorian. During her younger years, she has always had a passion for changing the way of the world and helping her communities. After coming across the profession, she decided to further her education in Landscape Architecture at Michigan State University. Naomi’s plans after obtaining her bachelors are to pursue her master’s in Urban Planning in hopes to aid in the redevelopment of minority communities in Detroit, Michigan. She is passionate in advocating for a better and safer environment in underdeveloped communities, like the one she grew up in. Through the study of Landscape Architecture, Naomi hopes to one day create spaces that promote healthy living, environmental and urban sustainability and deter crime.
